Many causes such as a disease, an accident or hereditary abnormities can necessitate the use of an ocular prosthesis and an artificial eye. The
latter doesn´t only have a cosmetic or psychological function, but also atrophies are avoided and the orbit is protected against possible infections as well. Especially with children the
development of the faces´symmetry is supported. In our institute the ocular prostheses are generated with greatest care to provide supreme wearing comfort and to allow for a natural appearance.
As a perfect replication they are individually adapted to the orbit thus allowing for a use without attracting attention. Thus the patients´ self-confidence increases, too. Artificial eyes made
of glass or synthetic materials can be inserted. The decision depends on your individual circumstances, tolerabilities and demands. All the artificial eyes generated by us correspond to
regulatory requirements.
Eye prostheses made of plastic
Our unbreakable synthetic prostheses are made of the medical synthetical material PMMA. The production steps when generating an ocular prosthesis made of synthetics are very laborious and complex: they necessitate shaping, drilling, polishing, depainting, melting, gluing and so on. That is why a synthetical prosthesis is more expensive than a prosthesis made of glass. In contrast to glass it is more lightweight and break-proof. It can be worn up to 4 years.
